FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY: The best of… May 2016

My job at Manchester Confidential allows me to sample some of the best restaurants in and around Manchester on a monthly basis. So i have decided to put my eating skills to good use and share with you my favourite dishes each month along with some helpful tips on where to go in this wonderful city.

CABANA BRASILIAN BARBECUE: Spicy Malagueta Chicken Hipanema Salad.
Spicy Malagueta Chicken is a must at cabana and now they have the option of the hipanema salad, you you and me that is quinoa with avocado, squash and a mango dressing.

PER TUTTI: Arancini | Tuna steak with avocado and mint pea salad.
Per Tutti means ‘for all’ and this restaurant really does do what it says on the tin. The menu covers a wide selection of Mediterranean inspired dishes and there is something on the menu for everyone. My favourite for their new spring / summer menu is the tuna steak…. along with my favourite of every menu – arancini – currently butternut squash and feta… go now!

HARVEY NICHOLS BRASSERIE: Oyster Rockefeller | Dorset Crab | Rib Steak
I managed to get to 32 years old avoiding oysters, my partner in crime Deanna was not going to let me get a day older without trying one. Thankfully my first experience was in the form of a cooked oyster – oyster rocker feller… and it was beautiful – how have i not been eating these forever?
Another favourite from our visit was the Dorset crab with lemon, black pepper and nasturtium and was a dish which represented the best of a British summer.
Then we couldn’t resist the Holcroft Farm prime rib steak cooked in the Josper grill 800g of pure brilliance. Perfectly cooked and made to share between two.

Iberica: Rice Pudding
After seeing how impressive Iberica was when it opened in Manchester last year we hot footed it over to Leeds as soon as the doors opened there too. The building is simply stunning, it literally took my breath away when i saw the interior (see the photographs here) we sampled most of the menu which was pure brilliance but then to end the meal i could not have been happier…. In appearance this looked like a crème brûlée, cut through the shell to discover rice pudding… my absolute favourite dessert. Heaven.

Zouk Tea Bar & Grill: Grill menu
Spring in the sunshine means terrace dining, Zouk’s newly refurbished terrace is the perfect spot. The grill menu offers vegetarian and non vegetarian tiffins and also an ocean platter including salmon fillet, half-shelled prawns and tender scallops, a real treat.
