FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY: The best of… June 2016

Every month i round up my favourite dishes / restaurants i have visited, with hopefully some helpful tips on where to go and what to try in and around Manchester.

TAPEO AND WINE:  Huevos Rotos
Some might say “do we really need another Spanish restaurant in Manchester” more people will reply “Always” There is something  as well as the great food that makes Tapeo stand out from the crowd and i think it is the atmosphere of the venue, when so many restaurants out there claim to be ‘authentic’ you know you are in a restaurant in Manchester but here in Tapeo you really could be in Valencia, the building pulls you in… and then the food arrives to keep you there… get in a siesta before you go!
My favourite dish from this particular visit was the ‘posh egg and chips’

DON GIOVANNI: Pollo Tricolore | Tiramisu
Established in 1984 and recently refurbished, Don Giovanni feels fresh and vibrant as soon as we walk in, greeted by Enzo we knew we were in for a great experience.
The pollo tricolore was my favourite main on the day, So called because the green, white and red mirror the colours of the Italian flag.
Then onto desserts, and the prettiest tiramisu i had ever seen appeared, you can tell the staff really care. (and the taste lived up to it too)
We also treated ourselves to cocktails while it was a friday afternoon too, i had the Venice, one of the nicest new cocktails i have had in a while. The mix of Amaretto Disaronno, raspberry, strawberry and lychee created a distinctive, intense drink.

LA BANDERA: Papas Arrugadas con Mojo
Give me spuds and i am a happy happy girl…. let me discover the Papas Arrugadas con Mojo at La Bandera and there is risk of me turning into one! Potatoes are a speciality of the Canary Islands (homeland to the owners) as the quality of their soil produces especially delicious ones. The proof is in the spud… go and try them now.

PER TUTTI CAFE BAR AND GRILL: Salmon and Poached Eggs
Drippy poached eggs with smoked salmon on soft white bread, a firm brunch favourite that i could eat daily here, the staff also give you a big boost to get your day started on the right foot, super helpful and always positive vibes.
